Welcome to the Official Website of the Alachua County Soil and Water Conservation District!

The conservation districts were created in Florida in 1937, at a time when there was little or no effort to preserve or protect Florida’s natural resources.

Since 1937, the conservation districts have worked to conserve local resources, as well as address significant problems in water and soil quality, resource allocation, and in the implementation of best-use practices.

Alachua’s Soil and Water Conservation District is working to address many of the major resource conservation concerns that face our county. Recently, the district has focused on educational efforts of Alachua County K through 12 school children, in an attempt to equip them with the tools and knowledge necessary to contribute to the conservation efforts of the county as adult residents.

As your elected conservationists, we seek the input of the citizens of Alachua county in directing focus on the critical conservation needs of the region. We hope you find this website informative and useful. Access the Contact Us portion of the website to provide us with input on conservation measures and focuses that are important to you.
